We had long been wanting to take advantage of the clay oven in the Calthorpe Project gardens. We had been running the supper clubs for almost a year and sadly the weather was never quite warm enough to cook or eat outdoors. The menu for our July event was relying on making pizzas in the outdoor oven, with a special pizza dough recipe given to us by an Italian chef.
July 20th was a very warm day. Perfect in fact for using the beautiful gardens in the centre. We had a big group of people who all helped create the delicious food. With the pizzas we prepared various antipasti and salads. For dessert we had a creamy tiramisu.
Only the fire alarm interrupted the flow of the evening. By the time this was sorted everyone was quite hungry and more than ready to sit outside in our candlelit gazebo to eat and drink and chat. We hope for such fine weather when we celebrate Mediterranean food in September.
